SHARE THE PRIDE
We welcome you to the 2009-10 -2009 school year! We are proud of the past achievements of Hoover Elementary School students as well as the support of parents in ensuring that each child reaches his/her potential. With the strong partnership between home and school, we are confident that our students will have a wonderful and productive year of learning. We recognize that quality is not an accident; it’s our intentions, our attention, our energy and our efforts that work in combination to create the best opportunities in learning for all of our children.
You'll find out about Hoover's philosophy, practices, and standards here on this web site. For answers to any questions, we invite you to call the school or speak to any member of the PTA Board. You belong to a team of staff, parents and students who take pride in their school.
We look forward to working together with you as partners throughout a most exciting and productive school year ever.
VITAL COMMUNICATIONS
We know there’s at least one student in this school who’s special to you. Making sure your children do well in school is important to us all, and communicating is a key element of that process. Check the backpacks! All school-to-home communications will be sent on Fridays. This may include letters from teachers or daycare, school surveys, special announcements, student work, in addition to the Friday Progress Reports, The Weekly Hot Line Calendar, and the monthly Hoover Hedgehog News.
Please watch for school news in The Hedgehog News or The Weekly Mini-Hotline Calendar which generally will be sent home with your youngest Hoover child every Friday. Parents with children in grades 1-5 will also receive a Friday Progress Report, a vital link in parent-teacher communications at Hoover. Friday Progress Reports are sent approximately every two weeks and according to the schedule on the calendar. Feel free to write notes to your child’s teacher on the Friday Progress Report. Should you wish to discuss any concerns about your child, please request a teacher appointment. Dr. Scott welcomes calls or appointments about any other school-related issues.
PARENT INVOLVEMENT
Enrollment in Hoover does require a special commitment from parents. Your support of the philosophy, goals, procedures, and standards of the Hoover program is absolutely essential. Please let the staff know if you have questions or difficulties.
There are many opportunities to be involved in the programs and decision-making processes of the school. PTA and Site Council strive to represent the ideas and concerns of the school community in many site-based decisions. Room Parents coordinate support for each classroom by asking for volunteer sign-ups at Back-to-School Night and throughout the year. We need your help to make this school an even better place to learn and grow than it was last year. We invite you to make a joint promise toward that goal.
